He studied singing under the guidance of the soprano Lydia Lipkowska and then the tenor Aureliano Pertile and made its debut in Bologna in 1948 as Violetta in La traviata. The repertoire included more than 70 roles, including the Carmelites of Poulenc's Dialogues, who sang in the premiere.
