Description

A POLYCHROME PORCELAIN DISH WITH SILVER MOUNT AND SPOON
the dish China, Guangxu mark; the mount and the spoon Thailand, early 20th century

28 cm diameter

Provenance: Italian private collection.

The 'mille fleurs' decoration (wan hua dui), a symbol of abundance, was experimented in the furnaces of Jingdezhen already during the reign of the Emperor Yongzheng (1723-1736), used constantly in the following centuries, and in particular in the last decades of the dynasty .
This dish was exported at an unspecified time to Thailand, where the delicate perimeter frame in silver was added, then coupled with a spoon in the same material.
