Nicola Martinucci (Taranto 1941)

He undertook to study singing with Marcello del Monaco, continuing later with Short and Ostuni.

In 1966 he won the competition organized by the Italian Opera Concert, with which he made his debut in Il Trovatore.

After an apprenticeship of almost ten years, in 1980 it is stated on the world opera scene, as a new heroic tenor voice, Aida at the Arena di Verona. From that moment it will be present every year until 2006, in the Arena program in works such as Aida, Turandot, Andrea Chenier, Tosca, La forza del destino, Pagliacci.

Opens several times in the eighties the season at La Scala, where he sings Turandot, Andrea Chenier, The cloak, I Lombardi in the first Crusade, Tosca, Manon Lescaut, La Fanciulla del West, Adriana Lecouvreur. He remained in the annals of its direct Turandot in 2001 by Georges Pretre.

It also performs at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Metropolitan, Royal Opera House in London, the Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin.

It also engages in modern works, like Salvatore Giuliano di Lorenzo Ferrero, made up his idea, and the wolf of Tutino.

He retired from the scene after about forty-year career in 2009 singing Turandot in Seoul Art Center.

Since 2010 he taught master classes around the world.
