Giangiacomo Guelfi (Roma 1924 - Bolzano 2012)

He is undertaken initially studied law, and then begin to study singing with Titta Ruffo in Florence and in Rigoletto debut in Spoleto in 1950 as part of the Experimental Opera Theater "Adriano Belli" [1].

Two years later came the important debut at La Scala, which was followed by appearances in the major Italian theaters, including Naples, Venice, Florence, Palermo, Rome, as well as a regular presence at the Arena di Verona.

It was also abroad in Europe (London, Lisbon, Berlin), and the United States, making his debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1954 and at the Metropolitan Opera in 1970. He also appeared in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

It was appreciated in Verdi roles in operas such as Nabucco, I due Foscari, Macbeth, Attila, The Sicilian Vespers, as well as in verismo opera titles, such as Andrea Chenier, Tosca, La Fanciulla del West. He also participated in contemporary works, including the first de Jorio's daughter by Ildebrando Pizzetti in Naples in 1954.
