Giorgio Merighi (Ferrara 1939 - Jesi 2020)

After studying at the Conservatory Gioacchino Rossini in Pesaro, debuted in 1962 as Riccardo in Un Ballo in Giuseppe Verdi mask with Renato Bruson at the Spoleto Festival.

In Bilbao in 1964 he is singing in Macbeth (opera) with Bonaldo Giaiotti and Enzo Dara's La Gioconda with Adriana Lazzarini.

At the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 1964 Officer in the first Cardillac of Paul Hindemith directed by Nino Sanzogno with Wladimiro Ganzarolli Aragall and James and Malcolm in Macbeth (opera) directed by Hermann Scherchen with Giangiacomo Guelfi, Ivo Vinco, Leyla Gencer and Bruno Expect in 1966 BF Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Virginia Zeani and Eumolpus in the first Perséphone Igor Stravinsky with Annie Girardot and in 1967 Rodolfo in La bohème with Rolando Panerai and Prince Andrej Chovanskij in the first direct Khovanshchina by Gianandrea Gavazzeni with Nicolai Ghiaurov and Clara Petrella.

In 1967, Cavaradossi in Tosca (opera) directed by Bruno Bartoletti Pobbe with Marcella and Giuseppe Taddei at the Baths of Caracalla for the Rome Opera, B. F. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Mario Sereni making her debut at the Vienna State Opera and The Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto directed by Lamberto Gardelli Manuguerra with Matteo, Nicola Zaccaria and Mady Mesplé at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva.

Still at La Scala in 1968 in Giglio before Callot The Whims of Gian Francesco Malipiero with Fedora Barbieri, Dino Dondi and Mirto Picchi. At the Sferisterio of Macerata in 1968 Cavaradossi in Tosca with Pobbe and Tito Gobbi. At Florence in 1968 the Municipal Theater in Roberto Roberto is the devil with Renata Scotto and Boris Christoff of which a recording exists.

In 1969 Il Cavaliere Renato Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Verdi (Trieste) and Don Alvaro in La Forza del Destino with Rita Orlandi Malaspina and Piero Cappuccilli Sferisterio.

Later she sang in the major opera houses of Europe, including the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

In 1970 he made his American debut as Luigi in Il cloak of Giacomo Puccini at the Dallas Opera. He also appeared increasingly at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1970 as Alfredo Germont in La traviata with Maurizio Arena (conductor). Still at La Scala in 1970, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, in Geneva is Riccardo in Un ballo in mask directed by Nello Santi and the angel in The wonderful visit of Nino Rota, directed by Fernando Previtali with Nicola Rossi-Lemeni and Jolanda Gardino at Teatro Massimo of Palermo.
