Description

Bruttium, Caulonia, Obol, c. 525-500 BC; AR (g 0,49; mm 10; h 12); KAV (retrograde), daimon running l., head r., holding branch, Rv. Same type incuse. HNItaly -; Noe -; SNG Copenhagen -.
Apparently unique and unpublished, cabinet tone, about extremely fine.

We attribute this beautiful specimen to earliest issue, due to the incuse reverse. The known obols, Apollo / stag type, belong to late period 400-388 BC (cfr. HNItaly 2067).
