German ivory tankard - 19th Century

elephant ivory tankard (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758) carved in high relief with classical scenes, the handle with a female herm between volutes, hinged lid decorated with pods and surmounted by a figure in the round. Height x depth x width 12 x 5.2 x 4.2 cm. Weight 78 gr. Item condition grading: **** good. Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity (pre-1947).
