South German turned ivory cup - first half of the 17th Century


turned elephant ivory cup (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758), circular base with a thin shaft interspersed with multiple spherical and leaf-form elements. Height 18 cm, base diameter 7.5 cm. Weight 67.2 gr. Item condition grading: **** good (previous restorations, cracks to the base and surface wear commensurate with age & use). Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity (pre-1947).
