Italian polychrome and gilt decorated pastiglia almsman casket - 16th Century (?)

of rectangular shape in medieval style, made of poplar wood with a hinged tympanum lid enclosing an empty interior. The exterior with moulded relief decorations. The front decorated with the raising of Lazarus, the back with the scene of "noli me tangere" with Christ and Mary Magdalene. Front keyhole with missing lock.
Height x width x depth 27 x 31 x 16.5 cm.
Item condition grading: *** fair (defects, missing parts and previous restorations).
Accompanied by a certificate of wooden dating from the Museo Arte e Scienza in Milan.
