A QINGBAI GLAZED PORCELAIN EWER
China, Song dynasty, 11th-12th century

The ewer with a moulded melon-shaped body supporting a long cylindrical neck with an expanded mouth, a slightly curved spout and a wide ear-shaped handle with a ring on the top, the external surface with a very light blue glaze.

23 x 13 x 10 cm

Provenance: Italian private collection, acquired in Korea in the 1960s.

A similar ewer is in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (Qingbai Ware: Chinese Porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, edited by S. Pierson, London 2002, pp. 122-123, n. 62).
