Indo-Portuguese ivory carving  - Goa, 17th century


elephant ivory (Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 or Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797) depicting the infant Jesus Christ Saviour of the World.Height x width x depth: 20 x 6 x 4.7 cm. Weight 249 g.Item condition grading: **** good (lack of feet, defects commensurate with age and use).Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity and by CITES certificate.
