Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri, Sassicaia

Tuscany, Sassicaia DOC - 1 magnum (Mg), vintage 1988.
Level: Within neck (WN), standard filling level.
Condition report: label and capsule with signs of wear over time.

Notes :
Sassicaia 1988 is one of the most intresting product in this decade, even if doesn't exceed the performant editions of 1986, 1985, 1984 and 1982. The bouquet opens on salad tones of smokey barbecue adn wood of mesquite with cured meat, dried meat and also a touch of white choccolate. The oak element is evident and it never merged at all, despite of many years of beauty rest this wine matured in the sleepy winery of Tenuta San Guido. That exotic characteristics of wood of hickory or cedar give to this wine a unique definition. This has been a very hot vintage and it feels that weight of mature fruit. I consequentially shortened the window to drink.
