Saint Charles cares for the plague victims of Milan

Oil on canvas, cm. 196x140,5

The painting bears the signature and date at lower left: "CRES. PIZZALA P. 1775".

The inscription is on a noble coat of arms with a raven on three hills and a sun on a yellow field, indicating a possible commission from the Corvi family of Sulmona.

Crescenzo Pizzala, born in Sulmona in 1716, but of Lombard origin, is considered the author of the pictorial cycle of the choir loft of the Church of Santissima Trinità in Sulmona.
