Description

Corinthian red-figured alabastron
ca. 600 BC; height cm 9,5 (3,7’’); With flat disc mouth, narrow neck, smoothly curving body and small handle set between the rim and the neck. Painted in the red-figured style, the body with two confronting mermaids and a conjoined floral motif between them; on the bottom delightful flower, whilst on the background stylised rosettes.
PROVENANCE:
Private collection, London; acquired on the European art market in the 1980s.
