An oustanding Etruscan carved amber
500 – 450 BC; height mm 53 (2’’); Used as pendant and finely carved in form of a male head in profile, characterized by archaic features (almond-shaped eye, refined moustache and beard divided into regular bands); a cavity on the head probably use to insert a precious stone.
PROVENANCE:
French private collection, formed in the 1980s.
