Greek archaic bronze umbo with Medusa
6th century BC; diam. cm 8 (3’’); A disc-shaped stud, probably attached as umbo af a shield, with head of Medusa in relief, depicted in archaic style (big eyes, large mouth with the tongue out) and encircled by finely engraved snakes.
Restored in archaic era; characterized by an enchanting riverine patina.

PROVENANCE:
From a Belgian private collection, acquired in 1980s.
