Description

Large shell cameo, set in an elegant Victorian brooch in blue enamel and gold. The engraving represents the personifications of the arts: Painting on the left, sitting on a throne, observing an object shown her by Architecture, the which is standing up; on the right, Sculpture, sculpting Athena's protective effigy. The scene is set on a balcony with a paved floor, facing nature. Unsigned work, but attractive and well refined. Second half of 19th century.; 73x61x15 (dim.tot.) - cammeo: 56x43 mm;
