Description

A greek gold ring. Sphynx. On the bezel, of a romboidal shape, there is a sphynx, stretched forward, within a chiselled frame. At each of the two endings of the bezel (which are linked through the hoop) correspond vegetal ornamentations. The prototype is acribable to the late archaic age. For comparison: J. Boardman, Greek gems and finger rings. Early bronze age to Late Classical, p. 187 nn. 429,430, 435. End of the 4th century B.C..
