A CARVED IVORY ‘DRAGON’ VASE AND COVER
China, early 20th century

25 cm high

The whole external surface finely carved with a ground of stylized waves, the spout and the handle shaped as a dragon, the handle of the cover also as two half a dragon with a ring in the mid section linked with a chain to the handle of the container, a group of dragons in high relief also on the body, the wooden stand with pierced rim and silver inlay.

Provenance: the collection of a Dutch noblewoman lived in Indonesia, acquired before 1975.
