Sicily, Syracuse, Agathokles (317-289), Stater, c. 317-289 BC; AV (g 5,69; mm 16; h 10); Head of Athena r., wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with griffin, Rv. AΓAΘOKΛEOΣ BAΣIΛEOΣ, winged thunderbolt; below, monogram. SNG ANS 704 (same dies); SNG München 1258; BMC 419; SNG Manchester 518 (same dies); Pozzi 648 = Pozzi (Boutin) 1327 (same dies).
Rare and lustrous, tiny spots of encrustation, about extremely fine.
