BEDOUIN BRASS AND SILVER INLAID QALAMDAN
19th century

A traveling scribe's box composed by a quill holder and a small attached inkwell. The pen holder is decorated with auspicious writings which run on the main sides; the inkwell has multifaceted shape. Qalamdans were used by scribes who traveled from town to town, and they would hang these on their belts.
