Description

A roman carnelian intaglio mounted in an ancient gold ring. Pan offerer.
intaglio 8 x 10 mm; diam. 16 mm; gr. 4,19
The satyr steps rightward, raising the left goat's paw; with the right hand holding the pedum and a drapery, while with the left hand he carries a plate with offerings. Depicting charity referring to country sacrifices. Slight wear marks. The stone comes out of the edge of the golden bezel. Mounting in excellent condition.
