brass pommel handle with measuring tape marked "born 1820 still going strong" and "John Rabone & Son Birmingham England"; this company has its origins in Birmingham in 1784, as rule and tool makers. The business was continued by John Rabone and his grandson Eric Rabone. It worked under the name of John Rabone and Sons 1784-1953, becoming a public company in 1948. Ebonized wood shaft and base horn ferrule. Weight 179 gr, height 90.5 cm. Item condition grading: **** good. Ce.S.Ar. Certificate of antiquity
