The work portrays Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa also known as Mona Lisa, datable between 1503 and 1506 when Leonardo was just 50 years old.
Preserved at the Louvre Museum in Paris, it is one of the most famous paintings in the world, an icon of western art and a symbol of
perfection.
The famous enigmatic expression is born above all from the eyes and the smile, that smile that Vasari defines «so fascinating as to appear more divine than human».
“You can write pages of description of the smile of the Gioconda, but the smile itself which was painted by Leonardo can never be translated into words (Erich Fromm) ".
