Description

Roman Marble Herm with the Bearded Hercules, 1st century AD; height cm 49,5 (cm 65 with Iron stand); Rare herm of the bearded Hercules which, despite the state of preservation of the surface, preserve the intensitive of the depiction. A close comparison comes from the Horti Sallustiani (Gardens of Sallust), and today is exposed in the Centrale Montemartini Museum, Rome. Provided with a marble stand. Provenance: English private collection formed between 1970s and late 1990s.
