COLLECTION OF THREE IMPORTANT EGYPTIAN FAIENCE AMULETS
From New Kingdom to Ptolemaic Period, 16th century BC - 1st century BC
height max cm 7; min cm 3

An egyptian New-Kingdom blue faience glazed fragmentary amulet of Thot ibis, a Ptolemaic Shu god, and finally a seated Renenut with child: the snake-headed goddess is depicted seated on a throne breastfeeding his son the god Nepri (missing head). Behind, a back pillar with an inscription: ink ir s'a, ' -i n pr-f mn : « it's me who creates countryland, I'm useful when she also comes out". The iconography is referrable to the Isis lactans. Provenance: Monte Carlo, private collection of Madame V., built up in the 60s and 90s.
