Description

square shaped stepped base with truncated corners decorated with laurel leaves, on top of which is placed the lamb for the passover sacrifice. In the upper section stands the figure of Aaron, brother of Moses, represented with the priestly breastplate and with the basket of unleavened bread. Hallmarked with the guarantee mark in use in Sicily from 1829 to 1872, represented by the head of Ceres facing left accompanied by the Arabic numeral "8" for a silver fineness of 833/1000, the mark of a Catanese assayer and the mark of an unidentified silversmith. Under the base there are also coats of arms of the commissioner. Height 42 cm, width 26 cm. Weight 2580 gr. Item condition grading: ***** excellent.
