A pair of French ivory and tortoiseshell boxes - 19th century


carved elephant ivory boxes (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758), with tortoiseshell interior (hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae). The lids embellished with portraits of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), Emperor of France.

Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity and by CITES certificate.
