English Victorian ivory
box - 19th century

carved elephant ivory cylindrica box (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758), flat circular base with beaded rim on which is inserted a fluted cylindrical body; stepped, beaded lid with spinning top grip.
Height x width x depth: 17 x 17 x 14 cm. Weight 731 g.
Item condition grading: ***** excellent.
Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity and by CITES certificate.

This lot is available for sale only with shipments within the European Union; the CITES certificate for export outside the European Community can only be requested for lots sold to museums.
