Attractive, roman carnelian intaglio. Bust of Apollo. The god, in profile to the left, is characterized by a thick hairflow and a laurel wreath, carries a quiver and wears a cape which leaves the mighty back (seen from behind, three quarters) uncovered. An olive or laurel leafy branch in the field. This work is well proportioned in volumes and details depiction. Bright gem colour. Mirror-finish polishing, light wear marks. 1st century A.D.
