The figures sitting with their arms stretched forward and the hands resting on their knees, dressed in batik fabrics, a large pendant on their chest, the man with a truncated conical headdress, the woman with an elegant bonnet.

Provenance: ambassador Gerardo Carante.

This kind of sculpture was commissioned in the territories of central Java for important weddings. Positioned near the bed of the spouses, they are known as loro blonyo, 'the inseparable', and are a reference to the rice goddess Dewi Sri and her husband Raden Sadono, symbolizing prosperity and fertility.
