LA RIBELLIONE DEL SACERDOTE MATATIA

From the stories of the Maccabees, the engraving depicts the rebellion of the priest Matatia against the religious persecutions to which the Jews were subjected. At the bottom the inscription: "Mathathias sacerdos aemulator legis divinae Iudeo Dijs gentium immolaturo et Antiochi praefecto per zelum casis, relicta urbe Modin, cum filius et reliquis Deum / Machab 1 Chap. 2. 14". Based on the Der Ouden en des Nieuwen Testaments series.
