Description

Le Grand prêtre Coresus is an original artwork realized by Jérôme Danzel in the second half of the XVIII century.

Burin after Fragonard's artwork "Coresus et Calliroe".

Good conditions, except for an abrasion on the lower left margin.

Very intense and fresh impression representing the episode of Coresus and Calliroe like in the famous artwork by Jean-Honoré Fragonard in the second half of the XVIII century. The impression, realized in burin, presents, on the lower margin, a long writing with the header.

Jérôme Danzel (Abbeville, 1755 - Paris, 1810) was a French artist and engraver, and a pupil of Flipart. His most famous works include: Rape of Proserpina and Venus and Adonis after J. Bethon; Venus and Aeneas after Boizot; Vulcan Giving Venus Weapons for Aeneas after François Boucher; Coroesus the Priest after Fragonard.
