Description

 Pierre Antoine Martini (1739-1800) after the painting by Francesco Solimena (1657-1747) in the Church of Gesù Nuovo in Naples. The biblical episode takes place in a grandiose classical building, while Heliodorus, minister of the King of Syria and in charge of taking possession of the treasury of the Temple of Jerusalem, is chased away by the emissaries of God invoked by the priest Onia, represented by a knight on a white steed and two Angels who overwhelm the profaner. It symbolizes the protection of God towards his Church
