Description

Fête Galante is an original black and white etching realized by Eugène-André Champollion in 1882.

Good conditions, except for some stains and a light wear of the paper along the margins. Including passepartout.

The artwork was engraved by Eugène-André Champollion (1848-1901), a French illustrator and engraver, after a painting by Jean-Baptiste Pater (1695-1736), a French painter, well-known for his “scenes galantes”. The etching is from a series belonging to the collection of Alexis Joseph Febvre (1810-1881), art dealer, collector, and appraiser for public sales (as indicated on the upper center on plate). The etching was published in 1882 in the Parisian magazine L’Art, as indicated on the lower left corner of the etching.
31 x 44.6 (foglio), 35 x 49 (passepartout), 25.5 x 31.5 (image)
