Vase with birds of paradise and plant volutes, from the ‘20s/’30s
Polychrome painted earthenware, h. 30 cm
Mark of manifacture under the base: F.LLI T./ SQUARCIARELLI
The engobe background is typical of Squarciarelli’s ceramic, just like the stylised holly motif in bright intense blue.
A similar sample, of different shape and only decorated with the holly was published in: Irene de Guttry, M.P.Maino, Artisti e fornaci. La felice stagione della ceramica a Roma e nel Lazio (1880-1930), Roma 2003, p.112 n.141
