A lot of 9 shell cameos. Erotic scenes.
15-18 mm circa
The set, originally preserved in an ebonised wooden case with a red velvet bottom and protective glass, is composed by 9 different erotic scenes. These depict the interplay between a young man and a young woman with different positions, inspired by ancient models (Roman "spintrie" erotic tesserae and Pompeian artifacts). French or Italian manufacture. Very good state of conservation.
First half of the 19th century.
