In 1987 the artist created two portfolios of "Camouflage" and some portraits with the same theme, as per "Catalog Raisonnè Feldman & Shellmann 1962-1987".
Camouflage motifs with fluorescent and vibrant colors on the model of military uniforms, as an allegory of the theme of the 'secrecy' of the painting. An image, Warhol suggests, is not what it appears, it is rather a tactical, reticent and protective envelope: a masking precisely.
Warhol dies during the completion of the edition, as a result the prints are signed and printed by Frederick Hughes - "Executor Estate of Andy Warhol".
From the 1980s onwards, camouflage prints have had great success, particularly due to America's progressive military involvement in the Middle East.
