Woman with Book is an original artwork realized by the French visual artist Georges William Thornley between the end and the beginning of the XX century. Original lithograph on paper.
Signed on plate on the lower right margin.
Perfect conditions. Passepartout included (48.5 x 32 cm).
Beautiful artwork representing a female figure reading a book. The woman is characterized by a very delicate profile, and the colors of the composition are soft.
The artwork was realized by the French artist and printmaker Georges William Thornley (1857 - 1935). Thornley became a successful artist remembered for his seascapes from Normandy and his landscapes from the French and Italian Rivieras. He was the son of a Welsh immigrant Morgan Thornley. He also was a talented watercolorist, engraver, and lithographer. His lithographs after the works of Corot, Pissarro, Degas, and Puvis de Chavannes were acclaimed by his peers and awarded at the Salon de Paris. Image dimensions: 20 x 15 cm.
