Description

Don Quichotte conduit par la Folie is an original artwork realized by Louis Surugne in 1730. Etching on paper.

Proof of the 1st tirage (chez Surugne). Titled and signed on plate on the lower margin.

Fair conditions, except for two small spots on plate.

The artwork is part of the suite Don Quichotte, realized by the artist in 1730. On the lower margin, there is the title: "Don Quichotte conduit par la Folie et Embrasé de l'Amour extravaguant de Dulcinée sort de chez luy pour estre Chevalier Errant". The etching represents a famous episode from the original story of Don Quichotte by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, published between 1605 and 1615, very successful in France. The scene is very dynamic.

The plate was realized by the French engraver Louis Surugne (Paris, 1686 - Savigny-sur-Orge, 1762).
