Description

Jean-Claude Richard de Saint-Non (Abbé de Saint-Non)

Eglise de San Domenico is a wonderful etching and aquatint realized in 1772 by the Abbot of Saint-Non. Titled, dated and signed on plate on the lower right margin.

It represents the painting "Apparition of the Virgin to San Giacinto" made by Ludovico Carracci for the church of San Domenico in Bologna (now in Louvre). In very good conditions, except for a usual yellowing and some minor stains on paper beyond the marginal line of the plate.

Jean-Claude Richard de Saint-Non, also known as Abbot of Saint-Non, or Abbé de Saint-Non (Paris, 1727 - 1791), was an engraver, draftsman, and humanist, as well as archaeologist, patron, and traveler.
22.5 x 16.7 (foglio), 20.3 x 14.2 (image), 32,5 x 25 (passepartout)
